NONSIMILAR SOLUTION FOR SHOCK WAVES IN A ROTATIONAL AXISYMMETRIC PERFECT GAS WITH A MAGNETIC FIELD AND EXPONENTIALLY VARYING DENSITY
The propagation of a cylindrical shock wave in an ideal gas in the presence of a constant azimuthal magnetic field with consideration for the axisymmetric rotational effects is investigated. The ambient medium is assumed to have the radial, axial, and azimuthal velocity components. The fluid velocities and density of the ambient medium are assumed to vary according to an exponential law. Nonsimilar solutions are obtained by taking into account the vorticity vector and its components. The dependences of the characteristics of the problem on the Alfven–Mach number and time are obtained. It is shown that the presence of a magnetic field has a decaying effect on the shock wave. The pressure and
density are shown to vanish at the inner surface (piston), and hence a vacuum forms at the line of symmetry.
