ICE FORMATION IN THE FORM OF ICICLES AND UTILIZATION OF HEAT OF CRYSTALLIZATION FOR AIR HEATING

This paper presents the results of investigations of ice formation in the form of icicles on horizontal wire and tubular attachments of various diameters. We have obtained the dependence of the relative mass of built-up ice on the duration of the process of its build-up at a constant fl ow rate of water and the dependences of the mass of built-up ice on the diameter of the tube and the material from which it is made. It has been shown that the application of tubes from low-wettability polymer materials promotes intensifi cation of the process of ice formation. A pilot air-heater is presented, which can be used for the needs of ventilation of a building of area 400 m2 or in systems with thermal pumps, and its operation under real conditions in regimes with natural and forced convection has been demonstrated.
