REVIEW OF THE LATEST ACHIEVEMENTS ON ATOMIC VAPOR LASER ISOTOPE SEPARATION
A review of the recent literature on the atomic vapor laser isotope separation has been made, and it has revealed the ongoing activity and the focus of eff orts within the community. The most popular elements were those that produce isotopes for the nuclear medicine. It is shown that the atomic vapor laser separation of isotopes is a good choice for this purpose. The optimization of the separation process parameters through their modeling was demonstrated in many works for diff erent isotopes, and it has given a good estimate of the degree of enrichment of diff erent chemical elements with isotopes and of their production rate for a variety of laser and atomic vapor conditions. A fi nal highlight goes to the use of broadband excitation lasers which are capable of increasing the rate of production of isotopes and decreasing the overall costs of the separation process.
